 Frequently Asked Questions

What does my donation do?

  • Donations of $6-149 go toward our general expenses including keeping MyTransitionPartner’s resources and free online education online, publishing Pathways, and providing grants to transgender, queer, and gender nonconforming people.
  • Every $150 donation provides the gift of a legal name change to a transgender person through a dignity grant.
  • Every $500 donation provides the gift of starting hormone replacement therapy to a transgender person through a justice grant.
  • Every $1000 donation provides the gift of being one step closer to gender affirming surgery to a transgender person through a courage grant.

Why should I donate? Unlike many foundations, we exist to fund people not organizations or programs. Your gift is a way of taking your allyship to the next level by helping transgender, queer, and gender nonconforming people become a better version of who they’ve always been. Our funds primarily go directly to the people who need them the most while a small portion of them go to operating our programs which provide support, education, and a forum for self-discovery and expression.

Who am I giving my gift to? Your donation is made to our parent organization, Darcy Jeda Corbitt Foundation. We are a small community foundation operated by transgender, queer, gender nonconforming, straight, and cisgender allies who are passionate about making our communities trans affirming. Our founder, Darcy Jeda Corbitt, is a transgender woman who has been fighting for equality for the transgender community through community activism, organizational advocacy, speaking, and writing. In 2016, she took all of the money she received speaking and writing and used it to start this foundation because she believes that our community will only achieve equality if we all work together to raise up the community collectively. She is joined by her team of dedicated volunteers who all believe in our core values of dignity, justice, and courage, and who want to provide the resources needed to the transgender community which enable them to seek the dignity, justice, and courage which is their birthright.

Is my gift tax deductible? Yes, we are recognized as a tax exempt charitable organization by the IRS.
